19 Dec President’s Message – January 2025
We’re beginning 2025 on a very happy note. Our Guild Board is complete!!! At the conclusion of our very enjoyable and relaxing December Guild Party, Chairman Colleen Cassidy shared with me that she’d been thinking of volunteering to be our Guild’s 2nd Vice President. By the end of our conversation it seemed to be “a done deal.” I’m so excited to have Colleen on board for 2025. As with Katie, a Guild vote will be needed to make it official. We’re off to a great start!!!
At our December meeting 2025 Board Members were honored for outstanding service. 1st Vice President June Barker did a great job of organizing our speakers and programs. However, we missed her as she continues to recover from recent surgery. Michelle Braisted worked tirelessly to get programs and new activities in place for 2025. Unfortunately her co, Rhoda Rose moved in February. Mickey Wilhoite and Mona Ledwin, who was in CA, were a great 3rd Vice President/Membership team. We always felt welcome upon entering our Guild Meetings. Mary Jo Harrison had the mundane job of recording secretary, but she did it so eloquently. She was readying for a flight to Switzerland as we met. Martha Newton did a stunning job editing and publishing the newsletter each month. Finally, and once again, Beth Bryant stepped up midyear to assume the duties of treasurer as Pamela Legner moved to Ohio. My “Hat is off to each of these ladies.” It was a good year with much accomplished.
Thank you for trusting me as your President for another year. I’m looking forward to working with each of the 2025 Board.Members. Returning are Michelle Braisted, Mary Jo Harrison, and Beth Bryant. Colleen Cassidy, Katie Rawls, Peggy Bowker and Shirley Garth will be joining us, bringing fresh ideas. We’ve had one Board Meeting, we’re a congenial group.
Michelle has many new kinds of activities planned for 2025. She has a mixture of groups, with a mixture of different activities. It all sounds inviting. And….I have a 2025 challenge for each of you. I’d like for you to “jump outta your box” and try that technique that you’ve been itching to do, that you’ve been flirting with, that keeps you awake each night planning how to tackle it. This is a yearlong “You” challenge. Once you do it, you may love it or you may say, “That was not worth it” and never do it again. Both responses are okay. But….. challenge yourself to try something new, quilting or sewing related. You may find that your reward was worth your efforts.
With the energy of our membership, a returning Board with some new blood to “stir the pot,” 2025 should be a fantastic year. Are you ready for an awesome time? I am!!
See y’all in January…… Keep on Quiltin’……… Lots of Hugs, Joyce
