OH MY!! It’s almost August!!! Guild members celebrated “Christmas in July” a couple of weeks ago… Students will have begun school by the time that we have our August Guild meeting… How can time be flying by so quickly??? We all had “sew” much fun at our “Christmas in July” day at the Williamson County Library. Around 60 members gathered to learn new techniques of sewing, and to paint, chat, and just have a great day! Thank you, Michelle, for organizing this fabulous crafty time. And thank you to our very...

Our August speaker comes from The Battle of Franklin Trust (https://boft.org), which “is dedicated to a better understanding of a people forever impacted by the American Civil War.” Joanna Stephens has been with BOFT for 19 years, first as Curator and now as Director of Historic Sites and Collection. BOFT manages Carter House, Carnton, and Rippa Villa. Joanna will share a few quilts from the museum’s collection and tell us how they have been acquired, and how they are preserved and maintained. Members are invited to participate in the program by bringing...

We had an excellent response to last month’s plea for volunteers to help “man” the Quilt exhibit at the Williamson County Fair! Thanks to everyone who responded. That said, we still need some help in the evenings with volunteers to demonstrate our craft – you can sit and sew, bind, or whatever suits your fancy. Contact Valerie Curtis if you can help. We still need volunteers every night (August 1-9) EXCEPT Wednesday, August 6. BUT if you can’t volunteer, bring your friends to see the quilts on display and buy a...

Believe it or not, we have depleted our quilt inventory this month! We have donated 32 quilts to Tennessee Kids Belong. Pictured is Hilary (with TKB) receiving the quilts. She says the kids love them! These quilts go to the kids that are up for adoption. TKB videotapes the kids, letting them tell their story. Then they put the videos on their website for people who are considering adoption. I cannot think of more deserving people to get our quilts – children without a permanent family or home. I cannot...

This is a reminder. Our next CVQA Quilt Retreat will take place September 15-20 at Place of Grace in Clarkrange, TN. If you’d like to attend, please text Jeanette Sanford and ask to be added to the list. You can find her cell phone number in the CVQA directory that was sent out in June. Space is limited, so there will be a lottery drawing to see who goes. The cost of retreat is $140. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to contact Jeanette....

The Ronald McDonald Committee has almost reached its first milestone – just one more bunny block to complete and then it’s quilt construction time! If you volunteered for the Ronald McDonald Committee and want to help with the construction, contact Maureen Prester-Henry. This year’s pattern is Elizabeth Hartman’s “The Bunny Bunch,” (see photo below) and the CVQA bunnies are awesome! ...

We presented two quilts on July 14. I have picked up four bins of fabric donated to QOV by one of our veterans who is moving to assisted living as his wife has Alzheimer’s. He has a lot on his plate, as he needs to sell their house, conduct an estate sale, and handle moving their furniture. I am going through the fabric, measuring it, and will be sharing some with others in our guild as a lot of it is not patriotic fabric. At our August meeting I will have about...

As I sit here staring at my computer, contemplating my monthly President’s Message, I realize that it’s almost July – our year is nearly half over!! Reflecting on these past six months, I marvel at the beautiful works of art that our members have shared during Show n’ Tell, and I keep wondering how each month can be lovelier and more creative than the prior one. As I think of our June meeting and our “mini” Quilt Show, I wonder how and where the creativity and talents of members began....

Our next meeting is July 1 at the Williamson County Public Library at 1314 Columbia Ave. in Franklin. If you signed up to participate in Craft Day on July 1st, you should have received an email from Michelle Braisted restating what supplies you need and what supplies are provided. If you did not receive an email, please contact Michelle. If you still want to sign up and attend, please contact Michelle Braisted ASAP – we don’t want to run out of supplies! Michelle’s contact information is in the directory that...
