Not too much has taken place since the last newsletter. I have not given out any more quilts this month and will distribute quilts and other items in the weeks to come. If you have finished quilts or projects for our committee, you can drop them off at the Quilting Squares quilt shop. Just let them know it’s for me or the Community Care Committee. We have our work days on the second and fourth Thursdays of the month at the Bethesda Senior Center on Bethesda Road. HOWEVER, I am cancelling...

Believe it or not, our Community Care Committee received 21 quilts at the August guild meeting. Way to go members – thank you once again! Because of your generosity, we were able to donate a quilt to Bridges of Williamson County, our domestic violence center, for the silent auction at their fundraiser in September. We also donated 10 pillowcases, 10 bags, and 20 Owl Buddies to Bridges. They love our Owl Buddies! Pictured is Christine with the beautiful quilt, and a few of the Owl Buddies peeking out of their bag....

Believe it or not, we have depleted our quilt inventory this month! We have donated 32 quilts to Tennessee Kids Belong. Pictured is Hilary (with TKB) receiving the quilts. She says the kids love them! These quilts go to the kids that are up for adoption. TKB videotapes the kids, letting them tell their story. Then they put the videos on their website for people who are considering adoption. I cannot think of more deserving people to get our quilts – children without a permanent family or home. I cannot...

Hello guild members! Thank you for all the finished projects you left us at the June meeting. I will have “the little red cart” at our “Christmas in July” meeting at the library. You can drop off your completed CCC projects in the cart while you make a great Christmas craft. However, I will not be bringing in projects to the library for you to pick up and complete at home – you will just have to wait until the August guild meeting! Since the last newsletter, we have donated 20 pillowcases,...

You continue to set records with the Community Care Committee! Our committee received 24 quilts from you at the May guild meeting – give yourselves a pat on the back for your contribution to our community! Sixteen of the quilts were baby quilts. In the past month, we have donated 20 baby quilts to DAR (Daughters of the American Revolution) for their service women's baby shower, bringing our total donation to 31 baby quilts for their baby shower in May. Guild member Jan Edleson manages our donation to DAR and said...

[gallery ids="1309,1311,1313,1314,1316,1317"] It’s been another great month for the Community Care Committee! We received 17 finished quilts from the April meeting – thank you once again! Since the last newsletter, we have donated 36 quilts to Tennessee Kids Belong, and 11 quilts to DAR for their upcoming service women's baby shower. We also donated one quilt to Graceworks Ministries for their silent auction fundraiser at the end of April. Pictured are two of the office personnel receiving the quilt (they both wanted to take it home). I don’t know who donated...

Another month went by with contributions from you, thank you once again! At the March meeting, the Community Care Committee received 20 quilts, 9 of which were baby quilts. We also received 15 baby quilt tops from Valerie Curtis, along with fabric. We will sandwich these tops with batting, backing, and binding for you to pick up at the April meeting. The DAR baby shower for service women is mid-May, so please finish up any baby quilts you are working on for our May guild meeting. We are also donating baby...

[gallery ids="1171,1172,1173,1174,1175,1176"] You've done it again! The Community Care Committee received 19 quilts in January and February. What a great start to the new year! At our February guild meeting we voted to continue donating baby quilts to Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), Old Glory Chapter. They host an annual baby shower for service women and women veterans who are expecting a baby. They provide baby essentials to these women and asked us for baby quilt donations again this year. The DAR’s baby shower is May 17, so think about sewing...

2025 came in with a wallop! I don't have much to report as we didn't have our January guild meeting and we have not given out any quilts yet this year. Our group that puts together kits down at the Bethesda Senior Center will continue to work hard to give you projects to take home and complete. Pictured is Denise Stokes and myself battling a roll of batting. That batting didn't want to give up its cover, but with a lot of tugging we prevailed! Needless to say, there was...

Dear guild members, For everyone’s safety, I am canceling our Community Care Committee workday this Thursday, January 9, at the Bethesda Senior Center. We will have our next CCC workday as usual on the 4th Thursday of the month, January 23. Thank you and stay warm! Karen Bays...
