What Does our Membership Chair Do?

In a few months our Nominating Committee will begin assembling a slate of 2027 officers for us to vote on at the November meeting. If you joined CVQA to make friends and contribute to our philanthropic work, serving on the Board can help accomplish both goals. Over the next few newsletters, we will highlight the various Board positions to help you choose where your skills can help meet the guild’s needs.

Board members come together monthly (usually in person) for a Board meeting that is separate from the General meeting. Board meeting dates are set by mutual agreement and are often hosted by the President in her home.

Last month we covered the roles of our Recording Secretary and Communications Secretary. This month we will focus on the role of the Membership chair. For the past few years, the Membership chair duties have been shared by two members, so we have had Membership co-chairs.

Our Membership co-chairs organize their committee to sign in members to each meeting, greet guests and make guests and new members feel welcome. They help connect members with committees and small groups that match the members’ interests.

The Membership co-chairs are responsible for tracking and encouraging membership renewals and maintaining an up-to-date record of member contact information. In the past, this involved keeping a spreadsheet of everyone’s information and updating it after each meeting. As we have transitioned to an online membership directory, the information is now stored on our website, which simplifies some of the record-keeping.
