In a few months our Nominating Committee will begin assembling a slate of 2027 officers for us to vote on at the November meeting. The CVQA 2027 Quilt Show is just a little over a year away and we will be ready! The dynamic Quilt Show Planning Group meets mid-month, usually on Wednesday, at Beth Smith’s or my (Marianne Cooley’s) house. This month Margaret Bearss, Eileen Sherrill, Beth Smith, Sherry Crockett, Rebecca Smeltzer, Susanne Winnett and I, fueled by my mom’s peach crisp recipe, laid out our second raffle quilt using Sherry’s fabulous stash of batiks. Things are really hopping for Quilts of Valor – by the end of August we will have presented 70 quilts! And I have presentations already scheduled through January of 2027. Keep up the good work! August was another great month for the Community Care Committee: we received nineteen quilts, five totes, one walker caddy, eleven Owl Buddies, and ten pillowcases. Thank you for your contributions! Update from Colleen Cassidy: Unfortunately, we learned last week that our August speaker, Beverly McCullough, has canceled all of her in-person presentations and quilt shop visits following the death of her father. She is taking time to grieve with her family. On short notice, we have scheduled a new presenter: Kim Jamieson-Hirst, of Chatterbox Quilts. Although Beverly McCullough had to cancel her workshop with us on August 5, we decided to offer an opportunity for guild members to gather that day to enjoy some camaraderie while contributing to our community (or individual) projects.
