18 Mar Community Care Committee
The Community Care Committee has had an active month! We received sixteen quilts, and numerous Owl Buddies, totes, pillowcases, and walker caddies at our March meeting. Thank you!
Since the last newsletter we donated twenty-two baby quilts to Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) for their annual service women’s baby shower. Shout out to CVQA member Jan Edleson, who connected us with her Old Glory Chapter of DAR for the donation. I took the baby quilts to Jan’s home while her DAR buddies were there and they ooh’d and aah’d over our quilts. One of the pictures shows Jan and friends receiving the quilts. As a BIG bonus/thank you to CVQA, DAR donated to us an entire line of boy fabric with pictures of trucks, excavators, and tools. It’s adorable fabric for boys and we will be putting together some kits with this fabric for you to stitch up and quilt. Thank you, Jan, and DAR!
We also received a generous donation of ten quilts from former guild member Marilyn Thompson. Most were large, bed sized quilts and we donated seven of them along with fifteen Owl Buddies to Bridges of Williamson County. They were thrilled to receive them as you can see from the picture of Tracy receiving the quilts for Bridges. Thank you to Elayne Vognild for coordinating this with Marilyn. I always enjoy seeing both of you. 😊
And that’s not all. We also donated twenty totes and fourteen pillowcases to Love on Wheels. They fill up new suitcases with essentials for children entering the foster care system. Keep those pillowcases and totes coming in as Love on Wheels really appreciates them!
Our workdays are the second and fourth Thursdays of the month at the Bethesda Senior Center. The next workdays are March 26, April 9, and April 23. We start at 9 a.m. and end at 2 p.m., so bring your lunch!
