26 Jul President’s Message – August 2025
OH MY!! It’s almost August!!! Guild members celebrated “Christmas in July” a couple of weeks ago… Students will have begun school by the time that we have our August Guild meeting… How can time be flying by so quickly???
We all had “sew” much fun at our “Christmas in July” day at the Williamson County Library. Around 60 members gathered to learn new techniques of sewing, and to paint, chat, and just have a great day! Thank you, Michelle, for organizing this fabulous crafty time. And thank you to our very well-prepared teachers: Colleen Cassidy, Marianne Cooley, Emily Ferguson, Mona Ledwin, Joan Patterson, Anita Petersen, Lynn Rinehart, and Mickey Wilhoite, who shared their expertise with us. It was so generous of each of you to share your stash of materials with us, too – Thank you! My only disappointment is that I ran out of time and did not get to create some of the very special projects. I’m hoping for a repeat program 😄. It was a fun-tastic day!!
Our August program should be a fascinating one when we welcome Joanna Stephens from Carnton Plantation to share information about their antique quilts. I’m sure that it will be a learning experience for each of us. Remember to bring one or two of your own antique quilts to share. I have to choose among four from my husband’s family and a 58-year-old quilt that was created especially for my Mom – what a tough choice! Come prepared to share and learn lots. We will share Outta Your Box creations at the August meeting, too, but please save your other creations for the September meeting – otherwise I think we will run out of time!
Yup! It’s that time of year when we begin to plan for next year. It’s time to think about who will be our 2026 Board Members. And Chair ladies need to decide if you want to continue on for another year, or pass the baton to someone else. Chairpersons please think “budget.” Did you have enough money this year? Maybe you need more. or maybe you can do with a bit less? Members, as the year is winding down, think about which committees you want to be a part of. Our Second Vice President Colleen has been busy working behind the scenes planning programs for next year. She has some great speakers lined up and fantastic ideas for us. We want 2026 to be even better than 2025, and it’s been a fabulous year!!
Continue to enjoy your summer. These hot, hot weather days make for great sewing indoors. Temperature is cool in my sewing room.
Stay cool, see y’all in August…… Keep on Quiltin’……… Lots of Hugs, Joyce
