Community Care Committee

Happy New Year ladies! We finished off 2025 with a housecleaning: We gave away all our ladies quilts (24 of them), all our pillowcases (21), all our Owl Buddies (13), and all our totes (6) to Bridges of Williamson County for their Christmas party. The party is for all the ladies that are currently living at the domestic violence shelter and for the ladies that have completed their yearlong program. I can’t think of a better place for our donations to go to. It takes a lot of bravery to leave a home, belongings, and in many cases their only income, to start a new life. Pictured is Melissa and her fellow worker receiving our quilts. Both ladies said they had been residents at Bridges, and Melissa talked about how thrilled she was to receive one of our quilts when she was a resident. Your work in providing these donations is appreciated!

We received six quilts at our Christmas party in December, thank you!

Below is a summary of our donations to the community for 2025. A total of 155 quilts, 87 pillowcases and 61 Owl Buddies were given to the community. What a great group you are to share your time and talents with our community!

In 2026 we need to gear up with baby quilts for the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) baby shower for service women and veteran service women. The baby shower is in May, so we have several months to put together baby quilts. I will bring several baby quilt kits to our January meeting that you can take home to complete. And since I gave away all our ladies quilts, any donations of ladies/girls quilts will be greatly appreciated.

Our workdays at the Bethesda Senior Center are the 2nd and 4th Thursday of the month. That will be January 8th and 22nd. We start at 9 a.m., and end at 2 p.m., so bring your lunch!

The Community Care Committee provides quilts, pillowcases, and other sewn items to various community organizations. The committee meets twice a month to make kits for guild members to sew and to prepare tops to be quilted.
