Please note we will NOT be meeting at the church in October. Our October 7th program will be a field trip to visit the home of one of our long arm quilters and learn more about the long arming process. What really happens to your quilt after you deliver it to a long armer? How long does it take to load a quilt? What should YOU do before you hand off your quilt to get the best result from machine quilting? Eight of our members have graciously agreed to host a...

The nominating committee is hard at work identifying candidates for the CVQA 2026 Board of Directors. We will present the slate of candidates for a member vote at the November meeting. Thank you to the two members who have volunteered to serve as 2nd Vice President and co-3rd Vice President for the 2026 board. You are awesome! But we still need volunteers to serve as president and recording secretary. Please bear in mind that the president’s position can be shared as a co-presidency. And in 2026, the recording secretary will have access...

Huge thanks to all the volunteers who helped “man” the quilt exhibit at the Williamson County Fair, especially my co-chair Valerie Curtis, who won “Best of Show” in both categories! Congratulations to all the exhibitors, including Michelle Braisted who won the “People’s Choice Award” for her farm animal quilt. For a complete list of winners in all divisions, go to the Williamson County Fair website: Creative_Arts_Winners. I’d like for all the winners to bring their quilts and ribbons with them for show and tell to our next CVQA meeting. Connie Little...

August was a busy month for us. At our guild meeting we received 12 completed pillowcases, 6 completed quilts and 12 completed tops. Thank you, ladies, for all your hard work! And that’s not all: On August 9 Jan Edleson spearheaded a presentation of ten quilts at the Hometown Heroes program at the Williamson County Fair. In the photo below you can see nine of the veteran recipients with the two Old Glory DAR members who presented the quilts. And you can read more about the presentation in an article from...

If you haven’t made it to the Frist Art Museum yet, there is still time. The Frist’s exhibit entitled “Fabric of a Nation: American Quilt Stories from the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston” is on display until October 12. The exhibit features nearly 50 quilts and coverlets covering 300 years of American history. Karen Kuranda says “I saw this in Boston when it first opened. Stunning!” Jane Ann Wheeler says: “Do NOT miss the fabulous quilt exhibit currently showing … it is such a wonderful curation of different genres!” Jane...

Believe it or not, our Community Care Committee received 21 quilts at the August guild meeting. Way to go members – thank you once again! Because of your generosity, we were able to donate a quilt to Bridges of Williamson County, our domestic violence center, for the silent auction at their fundraiser in September. We also donated 10 pillowcases, 10 bags, and 20 Owl Buddies to Bridges. They love our Owl Buddies! Pictured is Christine with the beautiful quilt, and a few of the Owl Buddies peeking out of their bag....

OH MY!! It’s almost August!!! Guild members celebrated “Christmas in July” a couple of weeks ago… Students will have begun school by the time that we have our August Guild meeting… How can time be flying by so quickly??? We all had “sew” much fun at our “Christmas in July” day at the Williamson County Library. Around 60 members gathered to learn new techniques of sewing, and to paint, chat, and just have a great day! Thank you, Michelle, for organizing this fabulous crafty time. And thank you to our very...

Members are invited to participate in the program by bringing...

We had an excellent response to last month’s plea for volunteers to help “man” the Quilt exhibit at the Williamson County Fair! Thanks to everyone who responded. That said, we still need some help in the evenings with volunteers to demonstrate our craft – you can sit and sew, bind, or whatever suits your fancy. Contact Valerie Curtis if you can help. We still need volunteers every night (August 1-9) EXCEPT Wednesday, August 6. BUT if you can’t volunteer, bring your friends to see the quilts on display and buy a...
