26 Jul August Speaker – Joanna Stephens
Our August speaker comes from The Battle of Franklin Trust (https://boft.org), which “is dedicated to a better understanding of a people forever impacted by the American Civil War.” Joanna Stephens has been with BOFT for 19 years, first as Curator and now as Director of Historic Sites and Collection. BOFT manages Carter House, Carnton, and Rippa Villa.
Joanna will share a few quilts from the museum’s collection and tell us how they have been acquired, and how they are preserved and maintained.
Members are invited to participate in the program by bringing one or two of your own antique quilts to share during Show and Tell. We will enjoy hearing their stories, too.
Joanna says. “Working at a historic site provides opportunities unlike anything else. I feel a special sense of responsibility for those things under my care. I never take for granted the places I get to go and things I get to see.”
Joanna lives in the College Grove area with her husband and two teenage sons.
