20 Apr President’s Message – May 2025
By the time you read this message the cold, dull days of Winter will be history, and Spring will be in full swing! I love the glorious colors that are emerging everywhere! However, this year is slipping by way too quickly!!
Our April Guild Meeting and Program were enjoyed by 90 members. Such a happy, friendly, and lively group. It was a delight to be amongst them. Julie Silber’s Zoom Program “Keeping ’Em in Stitches, America’s Funniest Quilts” was pure fun and “sew” delightful. Did you happen to notice the quilt with the name of Emma Oberle stitched on it? Not a relative that we know of, but it did catch my attention! Too much fun.
I’m sure that each of you is cleaning out your sewing spaces, collecting and pricing items for our fabulous Fantastic Finds fundraising event scheduled for our May 6th Guild meeting. This is your chance to do your Spring Cleaning but rather than wondering what to do with your items, just bring them to Guild. Isn’t the saying, “Your trash is someone else’s treasure” appropriate for this Guild adventure?
Show ’n Tell is always like having our own mini “State of the Art” Quilt Show. Thank you all for a fabulous showing of your talents and quilts. Seven participants for my President’s “Outta Your Box Challenge!!” Yikes, a challenge for me to have enough Happy Face pins and needle cases for these ambitious participants. I do, however, thank you all for your participation!! Kay Fisher, Jeanette Sanford, Shirley Garth, and Michelle Braisted all shared their completed creation from Ann Moore’s workshop. Each of their squares were beautifully done with the meticulous looped edging taught by Ann. Over-achiever Shirley even finished a second, much larger piece. Eileen Sherrill shared her granddaughter’s beautiful quilt created with colors chosen by her granddaughter, definitely not Eileen’s cherished red, white, and blue. Karen Bays created a stunning improv quilt as the result of an online class from Cindy Grisdela. Another over-achiever, this is Beth Bryant’s second “Outta Her Box” Challenge, a One Block Wonder quilt created using a panel, amazing. Fantastic stitching by all seven ladies! I’m working on additional needle cases and pins 😁
Busy times are ahead, including parties, end of school celebrations and graduations, weddings, and vacations are beginning this time of year. I’m headed to California the end of May for our youngest granddaughter’s graduation from middle school. On my way home my husband and I will be stopping in Durango, Colorado, so that I can partake in a three-day quilting class with a creative, award-winning teacher. I’ll be back just in time for our June 10th (not June 3rd) Guild meeting. Not wanting to rush our time, enjoy May before considering June!!!
See y’all in May for Fantastic Finds ……Keep on Quiltin’………Lots of Hugs, Joyce
