President’s Message – April 2025

Ooh, Spring is definitely in the air!!!! It’s always a pleasant journey driving along Arno Road this time of year to get to my home. I see clusters of daffodils along the roadside, trees in bloom and sprouting their leaves, and cows and horses roaming in the pastures. It’s such a cheerful time of year with longer days and warmer weather. Although, my husband reminds me that we can still have frost into the beginning of April. I won’t even consider that!!

Our March program was enjoyed by 88 members, two new members and three guests. I hope that you enjoyed our meeting as much as I did. Ann Moore kept us in awe with her array of gorgeous quilts and her inspirational lecture. Her workshop was fabulous. Sew many tips and tricks to form the beautifully created eyelet edging. It was definitely an “Outta Your Box” experience. Thank you Jeanette Sanford for enticing Ann to come to Tennessee along with your sister and her stitching buddy. Kudos to all!!

I’m looking forward to hearing all about “Keeping Em in Stitches, America’s Funniest Quilts” from quilter and Zoom lecturer Julie Silber. I’m sure that her program will bring many smiles and laughter, a happy way to begin our day. You don’t want to miss this one on April 1st and that’s no foolin’!!

As always, Show ’n Tell was awesome. I’m not sure how it can always be sew “Award Winning,” but it truly is. Thank you all for sharing your lovely quilting expertise with us.

Sew exciting!! We had three participants share their “Outta Your Box” experiences. Beth Bryant constructed her quilt top using a serger! Katie Rawls used a “One Block Wonder” to create her quilt, and Irene Neilan cut unique fabric strips to create her lighthouse quilt. I was happy to award each of them with a needle case and a “Happy Face” button to attach to their Guild Name tag. Thank you ladies for leading the way and participating in my President’s Challenge.

I always look forward to Guild Day, the first Tuesday of each month. It’s always a welcoming time, seeing Guild members greeting/hugging each other, having fun conversations, and including newbies. It’s also intriguing to see what “delights” are on the “Free Table,” generously donated by Guild members. Many thanks to Lois Bergman and Beth Smith for taking care of and appropriately distributing any leftovers at the end of each meeting. What a GREAT group we are!! Please give yourself a hug!!

See y’all in April…… Keep on Quiltin’……… Lots of Hugs, Joyce
