21 Oct President’s Message – November 2026
Yikes! It’s almost November – time for the holidays! – the busiest time of the year!
I hope that you enjoyed our October guest speaker, Rob Appell, as much as I did. He is definitely a bundle of energy with a wealth of knowledge that he is so willing to share. His program ran “way over” and I think that he kept us entertained for almost two hours. Rob’s Wednesday workshop, Double Tumbler Strip Quilt, was another stimulating day. He had lots of examples and tips, and a teaching style all his own. I have to admit that after two fun days with Rob, I’m exhausted – but he was a delightful and very thoughtful guest.
Our October Show n’ Tell was a fabulous array of members’ beautifully stitched quilts. Thank you, ladies, for sharing! And special thanks to Tara Wohlford who shared her gorgeous “Outta your Box” strawberry quilt. She overcame several challenges while creating it, and the finished product is delightful.
Our November program is forecast to be a celebration of the creativity of our Guild. It’s a time for members to share the many quilts/projects they have created during the year, including those that received ribbons at the Williamson County Fair. If you’re participating in this year’s President’s Challenge, don’t forget to bring your project – regardless of whether it is completed. I can’t wait to see what you’ve done! It will be so inspirational to have a long “Show n’ Tell” and to view the many talents of our Guild members.
As the end of this year is drawing near, it’s time for many of us to “pass the baton” as we elect a new Board of Directors. It’s also time to approve our 2027 budget, and to update our CVQA bylaws. Many members have been working overtime, making plans for these important pieces of our CVQA operations. Marianne Cooley introduced the proposed Board members at our October meeting; and Katie sent out the proposed budget and revised bylaws the day after the meeting. I hope you’ve had time to review them.
And what about YOUR plans for 2027? What do you want to do to support CVQA? Be sure that you join a committee or two (sign-up sheets will be at the Membership table), and a few committees are still in need of a chairperson. Remember “it takes a village” to make our Guild run smoothly. With everyone joining in, I know that 2027 will be another fabulous year!
With all that is happening, now might be a good time for you to take a deep breath, put your feet up, and relax for a bit before the busyness of it all begins.
Looking forward to our November Meeting…… Keep on Quiltin’………
Lots of Hugs, Joyce
