2027 Quilt Show Update

The 2027 Quilt Show Planning group is bubbling along as complicated pieces come together.

  • RAFFLE QUILTS: Two are under construction and should be completed by early March so we can begin serious marketing.
    • Traditional Quilt: Eileen Sherrill has wizarded together the traditional strip-pieced quilt with a new border miraculously blending with the center. Valerie Curtis will quilt it.
    • Modern Quilt: Sherry Crockett has planned, cut and farmed out batik fabrics (hers and other group members’) to a great team of Ronald McDonald veterans for construction. We’re still looking for quilting services. (Sherry is fantastic!)
  • QUILT SHOW THEME: October is the deadline to submit your 2027 Quilt Show theme ideas. We’ll announce the theme in November and the person who contributes the winning theme will receive a $20 gift certificate to The Quilting Squares.
  • SILENT AUCTION: The Silent Auction is our top income-producer, growing in popularity every year, and it needs multiple sources of gifts. We hope all members will consider asking local businesses you visit for a donation to our auction. Almost anything goes – hair, nails, feet, skin, specialty foods, wine, favorite restaurants, pet services, car care, etc. We’re updating cover letters, tax forms, and Community Care and Quilts of Valor partners. This effort is strictly voluntary but after Carmen Avary showed us all how it’s done—and produced so much success through many years—we hope more brave souls will join the cause.
  • SIDE TABLE: Marianne and Shirley will be there at our October 6 meeting to welcome your BOUTIQUE project ideas, SILENT AUCTION LEADS, and sign-ups. If you join our planning sessions, you get a new badge with 2027 show dates and location—no more scrambling to remember! PLUS: I’ll set out some ideas for “GUITARS GONE WILD,” our 12.5 x 20 inch mini-quilt competition.

See you at the CVQA meeting!
