19 May 2027 Quilt Show Update – Join the Fun!
The event is 17 months away, but your 2027 Quilt Show Planning Committee (QSPC) has been busy. First we chose a new location, after our new member Rebecca Norris invited us for a tour.
The Journey Church at Wilson Pike and Moore’s Lane offers a location closer to our members and core audience; a beautiful building with flowing spaces more flexible for our programs; great parking and outdoor eating opportunities inviting visitors to stay longer at our show; and a welcoming staff who agreed to keep the same price we had for the previous show. Our target Show Dates are October 14 (set up), 15, and 16, 2027, planned around the Fall Break for the Church school.
Committees are slowly coming together for the Silent Auction, Boutique, Raffle Quilt, Vendors, and Kids Corner. Please think about craft projects, fabric collections, tools and books. We’re also looking for people with business, sales and marketing – or previous guild – experience who can explore corporate and business sponsorships and silent auction donations.
One Silent Auction quilt is underway–thank you Valerie Curtis, again. Because we already have one donated, we would like to have a second quilt with a more modern theme, either donated or perhaps made by a Ronald McDonald-type group. Auction tickets will be $5.00 this time, each offering chances to win in two drawings. First winner gets first choice.
This month we’ll also start a small challenge on picking a Quilt Show theme. Winner gets a $20 gift certificate at The Quilting Squares. Please leave suggestions in our drop box; members will select a winner at the October meeting.
Sounds insanely scary, huh? Somehow we’ve managed to do public quilt shows since 2010. No deaths, lawsuits or lost quilts yet; hundreds of CVQA members taking on new jobs, skills and best of all, friends. We hope you’ll take this “Journey” with us (haha, get it?).
Best wishes, Marianne Cooley and Shirley Whittaker
