Programs and Events Scheduled for May, June, July, and August
Each month features a unique presentation or activity designed to engage members, celebrate achievements, and highlight the organizations supported by the guild.
May: Community Care Presentation
Karen Bays will host the May presentation, focusing on organizations that benefit from our Community Care Committee. Karen will provide in-depth details about these groups, including information that may be new to many members. A special guest will join the event, adding further insight. All members are encouraged to attend and learn more about the organizations we support through our sewing, creativity, and quilting.
June: Quilts of Valor Spotlight
In June, Pat McMahon will shine a spotlight on the work we do for the Quilts of Valor organization. The presentation will cover the various organizations involved, the emotional impact of donations, and the wide-reaching effects on service members and their families. The act of presenting a quilt is not only a gesture of support for those who serve but also for their loved ones. Join in celebrating the meaningful contributions made by the guild.
July: America’s 250th Anniversary Celebration
July marks a significant celebration of America’s 250th anniversary. Members are invited to participate by showcasing red, white, and blue quilts at an enormous show-and-tell event. The event will feature a contest, treats, and additional surprises. Prepare your red, white, and blue quilts and your favorite Americana outfit for this special tribute to 250 years.
August: Beverly McCullough’s Quilt Journey
August features Beverly McCullough, who will share her quilt journey and present a trunk show, bringing her Tennessee charm to the guild. There also will be a workshop where participants can spend the day learning from this pattern and fabric designer. Beverly will share tips and tricks for making a beautiful table runner, with the option to size down for a pillow. Pattern selections will be based on sign-ups. Guild members are encouraged to fill remaining spots before we open the workshop to other guilds and the public.
Red, White, and Blue Quilt Block Donation
Members will receive instructions on how to create a quilt block measuring 12½” by 12½” using red, white, and blue fabrics. These blocks will be collected and donated to assemble multiple Quilts of Valor tops, supporting the guild’s ongoing commitment to honoring service members through quilting.
Special Note
Please keep in mind the importance of participating in each month’s activities and presentations. Your involvement not only supports the guild’s mission but also strengthens our community connections. We encourage all members to attend, contribute, and help make these events successful and meaningful for everyone.
