19 Jan Community Care Committee
Thank you, quilters, for your donations to the Community Care Committee in January! We received 22 quilts (including 10 baby quilts), 8 bags, 4 pillowcases, and 8 Owl Buddies. That’s a great start for 2026!
We will continue to provide baby quilts for the service women and veterans’ baby shower in May, sponsored by Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR). There will be several baby quilt kits on our table at the February guild meeting for you to take home and quilt, or you can make a quilt from your stash at home. Baby quilts are usually these sizes:
- Newborn: 30″ x 30″
- Standard: 40″ x 40″
- Crib: 36″ x 52″
Of course you can make any size that suits your pattern, these are just guidelines. Note that all sizes are less than width of fabric, so there’s no need to piece a backing for your baby quilt.
In January we donated 6 quilts to Williamson Medical Center. Pictured is pastoral Care Councilor Greg Rumburg and me at WMC. He was thrilled with the donation and impressed with the beauty of our quilts.
Our workdays are the 2nd and 4th Thursdays at the Bethesda Senior Center. The next work days are January 22, February 12, and February 26. We start at 9 a.m. and end at 2 p.m. Bring your lunch!
