19 Jan President’s Message – February 2026

🎶 Baby, It’s Cold Outside 🎵, However, I am cozy and warm as I sit by the fire while writing my President’s Message. I hope you’re cozy, too!

I’m smiling as I reflect upon our January guild meeting. It was delightful to see so many happy faces. My smile got even broader when Marianne Cooley came to me after the meeting and volunteered to be our Recording Secretary for 2026. Thank you Marianne!!…and Yes! we’ll need to “approve” her at our February meeting.

Colleen Cassidy, 1st Vice President, has a full agenda of exciting programs and activities prepared for us this year. She has many speakers lined up, and several will be providing a workshop, adding new skills to our repertoire. Be sure to check them out at our February meeting and sign up for a fun day of stitching. I think that several of our “small groups” will be continuing for this year, including my UFO Group. If you have a plethora of items – or just one – that you want to complete, please join us. Let me know if you’re interested and I’ll send you the info.

The President’s “Outta Your Box” challenge will continue this year. Sarah Aldrich shared several “Outta Her Box” items this past meeting – such an array of creativity!

I also have a new challenge for this year: to make a complete quilt using a fabric and free pattern that I’ve selected. You will need to pay $10 for a yard of the challenge fabric. Then you can add any other fabrics of your choice and tweak the pattern as you see fit. The goal is to complete your quilt by our November meeting. Let’s see what you can do!!! I already had several ladies join the challenge at our January meeting. I still have several pieces of the challenge fabric, and will happily purchase more to supply whoever wants to join the fun.

A couple of our committees are still in need of a chairperson – maybe you’d like to do that? Just let me know if you are willing to serve. But if you can’t chair a committee, please remember to join a committee. It’s actually a requirement of Standing Rule #7 that each of our members should serve on one or more committees. Sign-up sheets will be out at our February meeting.
