Quilts of Valor

August was a busy month for us. At our guild meeting we received 12 completed pillowcases, 6 completed quilts and 12 completed tops. Thank you, ladies, for all your hard work!
And that’s not all:

  • On August 9 Jan Edleson spearheaded a presentation of ten quilts at the Hometown Heroes program at the Williamson County Fair. In the photo below you can see nine of the veteran recipients with the two Old Glory DAR members who presented the quilts. And you can read more about the presentation in an article from the Williamson Herald: Veteran Heroes Recognized at Fair
  • We had a presentation on August 11 at a Vietnam Veterans meeting
  • A QOV committee member presented a quilt that she had made entirely by herself.
  • I mailed a quilt to a lady in Baton Rouge to be presented to a veteran that one of the Vietnam Veterans had requested for his friend, but the friend was not able to travel to receive the quilt here.

Jan received a very nice thank you from one of the Hometown Heroes expressing his appreciation for the quilt he received. We consistently get thanks from our veterans for the efforts we make to recognize their service. It means a lot to each recipient, so thank you all for supporting this effort.

So while the weather has been extremely hot, it has allowed us to get some quilting done.

There are several retreats coming up and I hope you will take advantage of one. I plan to complete some tops and pillowcases at the ones I will attend.
