22 Aug Community Care Committee
Believe it or not, our Community Care Committee received 21 quilts at the August guild meeting. Way to go members – thank you once again!
Because of your generosity, we were able to donate a quilt to Bridges of Williamson County, our domestic violence center, for the silent auction at their fundraiser in September. We also donated 10 pillowcases, 10 bags, and 20 Owl Buddies to Bridges. They love our Owl Buddies! Pictured is Christine with the beautiful quilt, and a few of the Owl Buddies peeking out of their bag. This quilt top was from Carla Witt’s fabric stash; it was pieced and quilted by Luci Pincince. Carla was my predecessor as chair of the Community Care Committee and has since passed away. She would have been so pleased with this donation.
We also donated 13 baby quilts to Graceworks for their “Our Little Angels” program.
Since we won’t have a meeting at the church in October, I will not be able to give you projects in October to complete and return the following month. SO… please take twice as many projects home with you at the September meeting to keep you busy for two months! Additionally, you can return your completed projects at the Quilting Squares on Lewisburg Pike. Just tell them your donation is for me or the guild’s CCC. The ladies there will put it in my box in the sewing room and I will come by and pick it up.
Our workdays are the 2nd and 4th Thursdays of the month at the Bethesda Senior Center. The next workdays are August 28, September 11, and September 25. We start at 9 a.m. and end at 2 p.m. – bring your lunch!
