21 Jun The Quilters Hall of Fame Celebration
If you’re in and around Marion, Indiana in July, be sure and stop by The Quilters Hall of Fame. Its annual Celebration will take place July 17-19, when Laurel McKay Horton will be recognized as its 2025 honoree. Among many other accomplishments, Laurel served for ten years as editor of “Uncoverings,” the American Quilt Study Group’s annual publication. She is known for her commitment to preserving the history of quilts and their makers.
In addition, Hubert Ver Mehren will be inducted into The Quilters Hall of Fame this summer for his significant impact on the quilt world in the 1930s. His patterns are considered some of the most complex and dramatic, but he marketed his patterns anonymously or under pseudonyms so he is largely unknown. “Quilts of Hubert Ver Mehren: From Giant Medallions to Elegant Embroidery” are on display through July 26.
