26 May President’s Message – June 2025
Oh my, the fickle weather that we have during Springtime! It can include sunshine, wind, rain, hail, lightning, and maybe even a tornado or two. A bit of Yikes!! It’s also a time of many celebrations. My granddaughter is getting ready to walk across the stage to receive her diploma at University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Such an exciting time in life!!! I’m sure that many of you have the same proud feelings as you watch grandchildren and other family members celebrating milestones of life. A heartwarming and special time for each of us.
Our May Guild Meeting and Program were enjoyed by 93 members, a record high for this year. We also had three new members join this past month. The title of our May Zoom program definitely caught my attention: “Ten Quilters You Should Know and Why.” I was intrigued, maybe I’d learn who invented the marvelous rotary cutter! However, I think that we were all a bit disappointed with the depth and substance of our speaker’s presentation. While frustrating, thank you all for your attention during the program and your kind applause at the end.
Looking forward to our June Speaker Tracy Hansen, from The Dancing Bobbin Quilt Shop in Spring Hill. “Sew” nice to have a local guest. Tracy loves fussy cutting, so let’s all bring her a sweet surprise, a unique fussy cut square, 10” or smaller. I’m sure that a masterpiece will be created. So as not to miss Tracy, remember our guild meeting is June 10th, the second Tuesday.
I missed our May “Show ’n Tell” which is always one of the highlights of our meeting. However, I think that we all enjoyed a different kind of “highlight” this past month, shopping at our Guild’s Fantastic Finds sale. Oh my, the array of goodies that were sew tempting, and knowing that they wouldn’t ever be available to us again. Many, many thanks to Guild members who donated their treasures. Beth is going to continue selling library books, one crate at each meeting until they are all gone. Any leftover books will be donated to the Brentwood and Williamson County Libraries. Books will still sell for $1 each. And when they’re gone, they’re gone. A great thank you to Nancy Robichaux, Mona Ledwin and Marie Gallagher for chairing the Fantastic Finds committee. Many thanks to Emily Ferguson, Donna Richards, Marian Pickney, Marianne Cooley, Michelle Braisted, Mickey Wilhoite, Beth Bryant, and new members Karen Maust and Marla Tuggle for their huge helping hands. Thanks also to ALL members, whether you were a helper or a customer. I’ve only heard a preliminary financial report, but I’m sure that our May fundraiser was a great success. Way to go ladies!!!
Be sure to bring your Show n’ Tell items and Outta Your Box Challenge items to our June 10th meeting. Looking forward to June!!
See y’all in June…… Keep on Quiltin’……… Lots of Hugs, Joyce
