August was another great month for the Community Care Committee: we received nineteen quilts, five totes, one walker caddy, eleven Owl Buddies, and ten pillowcases. Thank you for your contributions! Update from Colleen Cassidy: Unfortunately, we learned last week that our August speaker, Beverly McCullough, has canceled all of her in-person presentations and quilt shop visits following the death of her father. She is taking time to grieve with her family. On short notice, we have scheduled a new presenter: Kim Jamieson-Hirst, of Chatterbox Quilts. Although Beverly McCullough had to cancel her workshop with us on August 5, we decided to offer an opportunity for guild members to gather that day to enjoy some camaraderie while contributing to our community (or individual) projects. In a few months our Nominating Committee will begin assembling a slate of 2027 officers for us to vote on at the November meeting. If you joined CVQA to make friends and contribute to our philanthropic work, serving on the Board can help accomplish both goals. The Membership Committee is looking forward to seeing everyone at the August 4th Guild Meeting! Here is a little food for thought: If you have a friend or neighbor who has been thinking about joining CVQA, now is a good time to join.
