Once again, we have so many people to be thankful for! Carol Stankewicz brought us a bunch of labels for our quilts. She does a great job of making them. A couple of folks who make their own quilts needed some labels, then I took the others to the center for Pam DeLong to use when she puts the quilting sets together. Well, this has been an interesting month. First, we now have two more members to participate in our committee: Kathleen Hardin and Pam Vadasz. Welcome and thank you! What a month we have had! At our April meeting, QOV was given a donation of $1,000 presented by Simonne McElhiney, Commandant of our league, on behalf of the local non-profit Marine organization (photo below). On March 24, Pam and I presented to a Marine and then went to Vet Court and presented to a vet with 20 years of service. We also got to visit with some of the mentors and the judge, so it was great. Things are moving along with Quilts of Valor! · On Feb. 24, Pam and I presented a quilt at Vet Court. · Shirley Garth made and presented a quilt to her sister and is now the favorite sister ever! · On March 8, Pam and I attended a meeting of American Legion Post 215 and presented 7 quilts. Time is flying but things have been very slow due to the weather. Meetings got cancelled and contacts were slim. I went to the VVA meeting Jan. 13 and had several of the vets tell me how much they loved their quilt but did not present one. The one I was supposed to do fell through due to the vet's health issue. I asked his buddy to present the quilt since it meant so much to the guy. My vet agreed and I asked the members to be sure vets...

What a month (Dec.) this has been, and it isn't over yet. We awarded 111 quilts in 2024 and have at least three more presentations already lined up for 2025. For those who think these quilts don't matter, let me share: I awarded a quilt to my dentist over two years ago, and I had an appointment for cleaning on Wednesday.
