CVQA members make quilts for the women who graduate each year from the Thistle Farms* program. The CVQA Ronald McDonald House* Quilt Committee completes and donates a quilt each year to the Nashville Ronald McDonald House to support its annual fundraising efforts. Our 2024 Ronald McDonald quilt raised $1,200 at the recent Light Up the House auction! Our 2025 Ronald McDonald quilt is nearing completion. Sometimes we are burning the candle at both ends, and that is the case for the QOV committee! This is a combination report for both November and December: In November, we had a presentation for a group of veterans identified by the Spring Hill DAR group, and it was amazing! Happy New Year ladies! We finished off 2025 with a housecleaning: We gave away all our ladies quilts (24 of them), all our pillowcases (21), all our Owl Buddies (13), and all our totes (6) to Bridges of Williamson County for their Christmas party. The party is for all the ladies that are currently living at the domestic violence shelter and for the ladies that have completed their yearlong program. In 2024, the CVQA Ronald McDonald committee completed the Butterfly by Tula Pink (pictured below), which will be auctioned off at the 2025 Light Up the House event on December 10th. Once again, WKRN Channel 2 News will host and showcase the event throughout the day. The final tabulation on donations will be made during the 6 p.m. news broadcast, and hopefully the goal will be reached and the House lit up! Our Ronald McDonald House Committee is nearing completion on this year’s “Bunny Bunch” quilt, pattern by Elizabeth Hartman. Committee chair Maureen Prester-Henry is displaying three of the bunnies in the photo below. But they’ve been multiplying like – well, you know! – and there will be 24 in the finished quilt. Wow! Our Community Care Committee received 27 quilts, 17 Owl Buddies, and totes and pillowcases at the November meeting! In addition to that, Carol Stankiewicz donated five beautiful quilts for the domestic violence center's Christmas party. We have 22 women's quilts right now and I expect to get a few more at the December holiday party, so we will have enough for Bridges of Williamson County's Christmas party for women who have completed their yearlong program, and women who are currently staying at the shelter.
