In a few months our Nominating Committee will begin assembling a slate of 2027 officers for us to vote on at the November meeting. Our next CVQA Quilt Retreat will be September 14-19, at Place of Grace Retreat Center in Clark Range, TN. The cost will be $145-165 depending on how many participate (maximum 13). If more than 13 sign up, there will be a lottery drawing to determine who goes. If you haven’t attended a retreat before, you’re in for a treat. You will bring your own projects, sewing machine, sewing aids, etc., and all food you wish to eat while there. The retreat center has a fully stocked kitchen and refrigerator shelf space....

The American Quilter’s Society has launched its 2026 Threads of Liberty exhibit “Celebrating 250 Years of American Spirit with AQS Instructors.” One of the quilts in the exhibit – It Began with Solidarity – was created by author, designer, and educator Annie Smith of Annie Smith’s Quilting Stash. Usually the heaviest months for the Quilts of Valor Committee are May and November, but this year has been different. We have had presentations throughout the first four months, and we even have requests for November already. It is going to be a good year for all of us! Hurrah! April 15th, along with morning freezing temperatures are history. It is time to get our spring and summer gardens in order. CVQA has a long history of charitable donations through our community outreach activities. For the past ten years, Karen Bays has led those efforts as chair of the Community Care Committee.
