We presented two quilts on July 14. I have picked up four bins of fabric donated to QOV by one of our veterans who is moving to assisted living as his wife has Alzheimer’s. He has a lot on his plate, as he needs to sell their house, conduct an estate sale, and handle moving their furniture. As I sit here staring at my computer, contemplating my monthly President’s Message, I realize that it’s almost July – our year is nearly half over!! Reflecting on these past six months, I marvel at the beautiful works of art that our members have shared during Show n’ Tell, and I keep wondering how each month can be lovelier and more creative than the prior one. As I think of our June meeting and our “mini” Quilt Show, I wonder how and where the creativity and talents of members began....

You’re in luck: It’s not too late to volunteer to help “man” the Quilt exhibit at the Williamson County Fair! The Fair will be held August 1-9 at the Agricultural EXPO Park in Franklin. Connie Little is in charge again (thank you, Connie!) and this year Valerie Curtis is managing volunteers (thank you, Valerie!). The Frist Art Museum is hosting an exhibit entitled “Fabric of a Nation: American Quilt Stories from the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston” from June 27 through October 12. The exhibit features nearly 50 quilts and coverlets made from the 18th century up to 2021. If you’re in and around Marion, Indiana in July, be sure and stop by The Quilters Hall of Fame. Its annual Celebration will take place July 17-19, when Laurel McKay Horton will be recognized as its 2025 honoree. Among many other accomplishments, Laurel served for ten years as editor of “Uncoverings,” the American Quilt Study Group’s annual publication.
