If you’re in and around Marion, Indiana in July, be sure and stop by The Quilters Hall of Fame. Its annual Celebration will take place July 17-19, when Laurel McKay Horton will be recognized as its 2025 honoree. Among many other accomplishments, Laurel served for ten years as editor of “Uncoverings,” the American Quilt Study Group’s annual publication. She is known for her commitment to preserving the history of quilts and their makers. In addition, Hubert Ver Mehren will be inducted into The Quilters Hall of Fame this summer for his...

Sandy Cole delivered our 2025 quilt to Ronald McDonald House for their upcoming auction. It is gorgeous! Below is the photo Sandy took with Executive Director Liz Piercy and Kirra Menees, House Operations Director. They loved the quilt – and who wouldn’t??? Thanks to all of our members who contributed to this beautiful interpretation of Tula Pink’s Butterfly Quilt. ...

Hello guild members! Thank you for all the finished projects you left us at the June meeting. I will have “the little red cart” at our “Christmas in July” meeting at the library. You can drop off your completed CCC projects in the cart while you make a great Christmas craft. However, I will not be bringing in projects to the library for you to pick up and complete at home – you will just have to wait until the August guild meeting! Since the last newsletter, we have donated 20 pillowcases,...

Once again, we have so many people to be thankful for! Carol Stankewicz brought us a bunch of labels for our quilts. She does a great job of making them. A couple of folks who make their own quilts needed some labels, then I took the others to the center for Pam DeLong to use when she puts the quilting sets together. Lin Stricker needed labels for two quilts that she had made the tops for and will also quilt them for us. Eileen Sherrill also needed some labels for...

Oh my, the fickle weather that we have during Springtime! It can include sunshine, wind, rain, hail, lightning, and maybe even a tornado or two. A bit of Yikes!! It’s also a time of many celebrations. My granddaughter is getting ready to walk across the stage to receive her diploma at University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Such an exciting time in life!!! I’m sure that many of you have the same proud feelings as you watch grandchildren and other family members celebrating milestones of life. A heartwarming and special time for...

Please note that our June meeting will be held June 10 – not June 3 – at our regular meeting space at Franklin Community of Faith. The church is holding Vacation Bible School the week of June 3rd so we had to reschedule. On June 10, we are delighted to welcome guest speaker Tracy Hansen from The Dancing Bobbin Quilt Shop in Spring Hill. As you may know, Tracy is a prolific piecer with a great eye for color; and she has advised many of us on how to make our...

It's almost time for the Williamson County Fair and we need lots of help “manning” the Quilt exhibit. The Fair will be held August 1-9 at the Agricultural EXPO Park in Franklin. Connie Little is in charge again (thank you, Connie!) and this year Valerie Curtis is managing volunteers (thank you, Valerie!). The fair is open from 6-10 p.m. Monday through Friday, 10-10 Saturday, and 12-10 Sunday. Here is a note from Valerie: I'll be doing the sign-ups for workers to give Connie one less thing to worry about. We usually start...

You continue to set records with the Community Care Committee! Our committee received 24 quilts from you at the May guild meeting – give yourselves a pat on the back for your contribution to our community! Sixteen of the quilts were baby quilts. In the past month, we have donated 20 baby quilts to DAR (Daughters of the American Revolution) for their service women's baby shower, bringing our total donation to 31 baby quilts for their baby shower in May. Guild member Jan Edleson manages our donation to DAR and said...
