On April 15 you should have received an email from Cumberland Valley Quilt Association with your 2025 CVQA photo directory attached. Thank you to Peggy Bowker for keeping track of all of our members and their contact information, and to Jill Zollinger for working her magic to turn that information into our photo directory! If your directory did not arrive, check your junk mail folder as that is where several members have reported finding theirs. If you still haven’t seen it, let Katie Rawls know and she will resend it to...

Ooh, Spring is definitely in the air!!!! It’s always a pleasant journey driving along Arno Road this time of year to get to my home. I see clusters of daffodils along the roadside, trees in bloom and sprouting their leaves, and cows and horses roaming in the pastures. It’s such a cheerful time of year with longer days and warmer weather. Although, my husband reminds me that we can still have frost into the beginning of April. I won’t even consider that!! Our March program was enjoyed by 88 members, two...

We are excited to welcome our April 1st speaker, Julie Silber. Julie will be speaking to us at our regular meeting location via Zoom. Her talk is entitled "Keepin’ ’Em in Stitches: America's Funniest Quilts.” Julie is a respected quilt expert specializing in buying, selling, and appraising antique quilts made between 1780 and 1950. She was the curator of the world-renowned Esprit Quilt Collection in San Francisco and the co-author of Hearts and Hands and Amish: The Art of the Quilt. In Julie's words: “Women have always expressed their whole selves in...

Our Ronald McDonald committee is hard at work on the quilt we will donate to the Ronald McDonald House auction. This year’s pattern is Elizabeth Hartman’s “The Bunny Bunch.” We’ve distributed all of the bunny blocks and four have already been returned, so that leaves 20 more to go. If you are on the committee, remember that our May meeting is the final date to turn in your block – and sooner is better than later so we can get started on assembling the quilt top!   --   [gallery size="large" ids="1234,1235,1238,1240,1241,1242,1243,1244"]...

Our first Quilt Retreat of the year was a great success as you can see from the smiles on these faces! Pat McMahon had this to say about the retreat: “I went to the CVQA retreat. It was great, good weather, lots of ideas and conversations until Saturday morning. Everybody was leaving as soon as it got light enough to drive. We all got to see and visit with Rhonda Rose (she now lives in Louisville) and two relatively new members were able to attend. These are fun and you get to...

Thank you to all who have renewed your Guild membership. Between member renewals and new members, we presently have 132 members in the Guild. March 31 is the deadline for renewing your membership for 2025, so don’t delay if you want to continue receiving information and news about CVQA. Contact Peggy Bowker if you have questions, if you’re not sure if you’ve renewed OR if you think she might have missed your renewal....

Another month went by with contributions from you, thank you once again! At the March meeting, the Community Care Committee received 20 quilts, 9 of which were baby quilts. We also received 15 baby quilt tops from Valerie Curtis, along with fabric. We will sandwich these tops with batting, backing, and binding for you to pick up at the April meeting. The DAR baby shower for service women is mid-May, so please finish up any baby quilts you are working on for our May guild meeting. We are also donating baby...

Things are moving along with Quilts of Valor! · On Feb. 24, Pam and I presented a quilt at Vet Court. · Shirley Garth made and presented a quilt to her sister and is now the favorite sister ever! · On March 8, Pam and I attended a meeting of American Legion Post 215 and presented 7 quilts. One of the members had passed away and his funeral was that afternoon, but we still had 17 folks there. It was so nice to see old friends and Willie was still talking about his...
